Cardiac cell in heart failure, computer model. The model is based on fluorescent light microscopy, where fluorescent dyes were used to highlight cellular structures and proteins: actin (green), cell nucleus (blue), adrenoreceptors (red). Actin is a contractile muscle protein. Adrenoreceptors are structures in a cell triggered by adrenaline and noradrenaline, in this case to increase the heart rate when needed. They are also known as beta receptors. This model is of a heart cell from a heart failure patient.
