saklikent gorge and running streams of fresh water in turkey
Saklikent (Hidden City) Gorge is the second-largest (20 km-long) gorge in Europe, the longest and deepest gorge in turkey is incised deeply into the akdag mountains by a swift flowing, ice torrent. saklikent is about 40 minutes' drive from Fethiye. It is a spectacular place, with sculpted walls soaring high above. Four km. of the gorge is walkable after April when most of the snow from the Taurus Mountains has melted and passed through the gorge on its way to the Xanthos River. Summer is the best time to visit as the canyon is deliciously cool and shady with cold water and a fresh 12km drive from the main highway is through a bucolic landscape of tiny hamlets dotted between the cotton and wheat fields, olive groves and road is full of stalls selling sac boregi and aryan and at the end, a knot of tourist restaurants sit on either side of the river near the narrow boardwalk secured to the rock walls leads 100 m up the canyon into a restaurant nestled beside the you are in the gorge streams you will find large slippery rocks that you have to climb on to manage to pass to the other side and that is extremely difficult for someone without the professional experience because the water level and for the fact that some rocks are extremely 't even think that you can manage the crossing all the gorge, because if you do,you will end up having to spend the night by yourself inside the gorge waiting for help in freezing cold crazy but not have a fresh trout in one of those restaurants and a beer and you will be happy than ever.
