Communicated by Paul Sandby, Esq. R. A. TINTERN ABBEY, MONMOUTHSHIRE, ^^HETHER considered as a pleasing object, or a venerable piece ofAntiquity, is well deserving the obsei vation of the curious. Indeed suchis its reputation, as always to make a visit to it part of the excursionfrom Bath, to Chepstow, Pearcefield, and its environs. It stands on the banks of the Wye, about five miles from Chepstow;nothing can exceed the beauty of its situation, which seems by natureformed for monastic retirement. To the south, east, and west, it isenvironed by woudy hills, wluch, rising in difierent direction, hangoverit, and seem to form a barrier excluding the rest of the world. On the north.
