The Naeroyfjord is a fjord in the municipality of Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The scenic narrow fjord is a branch of the larger Sognefjord: this is the largest and best known fjord in Norway and the second longest in the world. Since 2005, the Naeroyfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And here are two interesting facts: 1) Norway's coastline is estimated at 29,000 km with fjords, but only 2500 km when fjords are excluded! 2) Possibly because of the narrowness of many fjords, combined with the water depths, ship wakes and waves seem unusually complex and prominent - as can be seen here.
