A recruit from Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, begins the maneuver under fire portion of a combat fitness test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 18. Recruits must navigate through the 75-yard long course while performing a buddy drag and fireman’s carry. Recruits are paired up with other recruits of similar weight and height to ensure every recruit is being tested evenly. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 9.
