Monument to Spanish Friar Luis de León, 1527 - 1591. Augustian friar, theologian and poet who lectured at the Salamanca University. The statue is the work of Spanish sculptor Nicasio Sevilla y Sanchez, also known as Nicasio Sevilla, ? - 1872. It stands in the Patio de las Escuelas, or schoolyard, at the University. Salamanca, Salamanca Province, Castile and Leon, Spain. The Old City of Salamanca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
