A sample of potato 'Lumper' or 'Lumpers', a white tuber, which is highly susceptible to potato blight (caused by fungus).

Maincrop potato (Solanum tuberosum) 'Lumper' or 'Lumpers', the 1800 cultivar (or variety) that was widely grown in Ireland from 1808 onwards. This was so badly affected by potato blight (caused by Phytophthora infestans fungus) that the crop failures resulted in famine. The image shows tubers in a chitting tray, prior to sprouting (chitting) and planting.
