LOontlnued from page 68.] American Beauty in the center of the table and around the edge worked out a patriotic design by sewing red and white carnations and blue cornflowers on white satin ribbon. He says general business holds up well, the demand be- ing particularly good for spring baskets. George Segarini, with Lundberg's, has the sympathy of the trade in the loss of his 4-year-old son. The child dis- appeared from its liome and after a frantic search of three or four days, in which city officials were called upon to participate, the body was found upon the shore of the bay, a considerable distance from the family residence. Frank Thatcher, decorator and sales- man for Pelicano, Bossi & Co., has been off duty for several days as the result of a mistake which almost cost him his life. He took a dose of oxalic acid that he had bought for cleaning his liauds in place of some medicine. No- ticing that it tasted oddly as he swal-. lowed it, he investigated and summoned medical aid at once. It made him sick, but he is expected back at work As the regular date for the April meeting of the Pacific Coast Horticul- tural Society fell on the evening before Easter, the meeting was postponed for a week. The later date brought out a good attendance, with President M. A. Poss in the chair. Several matters of importance came up for consideration. For the picnic committee B. Kaymond announced that practically all arrange- ments had been made for holding the annual outing at Pinehurst, on the sec- ond Sunday in August. An applica- tion for membership was received from Frank Mamseto. The only exhibit of the evening was a fine showing of cal- ceolarias by A. Clemo, superintendent of the Moore estate at Piedmont, which took eighty-five points. At the previ- ous meeting Mr. Clemo was awarded ninety-five points for an exhibit of Primula obconica.
