False-colour satellite image of East Anglia, England. The coloured portion shows two counties, Norfolk and Suffolk. Most of Suffolk (lower half) is covered by fields of cereal crops (red) and sugar beet (pink), whilst Norfolk has a higher proportion of pasture (blue). The orange area on the Norfolk coast near top right is the famous Norfolk Broads, wetland lake systems formed by peat digging about 600 years ago and now a popular tourist venue. Important towns include Norwich (dark blue, inland near top right) and Ipswich (at end of inlet in the far south). This mosaic image was made using data from the Thematic Mapper of a Landsat satellite.
