The saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) is the largest cactus found in the United States and can grow as tall as 40 to 60 feet (12 to 18 meters). Many saguaros grow arms (branches) that usually turn upward, as seen on this towering specimen in the Sonoran Desert in southwestern Arizona, USA. These slow-growing cacti can live as long as 150 to 200 years.
