St Gwenfaen's Well, Rhoscolyn, Anglesey, was said to cure mental disorders in return for offerings of white quartz pebbles: Gwenfaen means White Stone

St Gwenfaen's Well was said to cure mental disorders in return for offerings of white quartz pebbles. As Gwenfaen means White Stone the Early Christian patron saint of Rhoscolyn (Llanwenfaen) church & parish may be an invention, or the well ritual made to fit her name. Well in 3 parts: sunken square antechamber with 4 corner seats, an enclosed central pool with seating & an exterior pool with 3 steps each side leading down to the outflowing water. Date of stonework unknown, perhaps as late as C18th.
