Rally exhibitors stop to talk while a Mclaren 8nhp Traction Engine built in 1911 idles in the background. The works number: 1242. Here it is pictured with a trailer carrying logs at the Wiston Park Steam Rally in the South Downs National Park. Purchased from new this Mclaren traction engine began life in Waimate, South Island, New Zealand. Owned by Ruddenklaa it drove a threshing mill and was used on contract hire. In 1969 the engine was purchased by George Winter and over the next two years was restored. Owned by George and John Winter from Timaru, South Island, New Zealand the engine is currently in the UK and show at Wiston by Michael Lugg after it made an appearance at the Great Dorset Steam Fair in 2010.
