The edges of this slab(which is of large size, measuring 3 feetby 8) bear Early English moldings, andthe angles are ornamented by bold andwell-carved foliage of the same the class which may be described asincised slabs, the fragments, here repre-sented, may be referred to the centuryunder consideration: one shows the upper portion of the figure of a female,wearing the wimple, a neck-covering peculiar to the period; the other, thefeet, whether of this figure or another it is difficult to say: in both the figureis indicated by deeply cut lines.
