A 6-volt battery furnishes current for theside and tail lights, but the main headlights are runfrom the magneto, thus obviating the chance of havingthe battery run down and being obliged to travel withoutlights. A buzzer over the drivers head with push buttonon the platform for signaling and a receptable on theplatform for plugging in a small portable lamp are also. NEW ONE-TON LINE TRUCK FOR DENVER TRAMWAY connected to the battery. These are improvements overthe li-ton truck which is equipped with an oil torchfor night work and a bell cord and motormans signalbell for signaling. Two small mirrors are provided,one at the side to enable the driver to see traffic ap-proaching from the rear and the other at the top ofthe wind shield to permit the driver to watch the line-men at work. A Dayton Universal mechanical starter was installedon the new truck, and will materially cut down on theexpense of operation as compared with the 11-ton equip-ment. During 1917 an average of miles per gallonof gasoline and an operating cost, not including gasolineand driver, of cent per mile were obtained withthe 14-ton truck.
