Painting of Klara Franke and her motto by Christian Kurt Ebert on firewall of the Kulturfabrik building, Lehrter strasse 35, Moabit, Berlin The motto ‘Wenn Du was erreichen willst, musst Du den Politikern auf die Füße’ treten!’ means ‘If you want to achieve something, you have to kick the politicians on their feet!’ Franke supported the establishment of the Kulturfabrik in Lehrter Strasse 35 using the slogan ‘This house is for this Youth’. Klara Franke (1911-1995) campaigned for the interests of her fellow citizens, for disadvantaged groups in society and for good neighborliness. She campaigned for 15 years for the children to have their own playground on Lehrter Strasse and this playground is named after her.
