In January, 1756, theIndians entered the township and committed a series ofmurders and depredations, firing the houses and barns ofChristian Miller, Henry Diehl, Henry Shopp, NicholasHeil, Nicholas Sholl and Peter Doll, killing one of Heilschildren and John Bauman. The body of the latter wasfound two weeks after the maraud and interred in theMoravian burying ground at Nazareth.
