Taken on a evening at the end of August, one hour before sunset, looking down to the valley from the Col dell'Agnello, a pass at more than 2700 m. linking Italy to France. This is the Val Varaita, one of the many valleys in the Italian side of the Western Alps in Piedmont. It had been cloudy, with dull light, for most of the day. However, a few minutes before sunset the sun broke through the storm tinging the clouds and the peaks with beautiful pinks. There was quite a strong wind down in the valley, so I decided for a very long exposure just to capture the beautiful movement of the fog in the middle ground and the clouds in the foreground.
