New Pegasus Bridge, over the Caen Canal at Benouville, Normandy

The new, larger Pegasus Bridge was installed in 1994, replacing the original which has since been restored and can be seen in the Pegasus Memorial Museum at Ranville, a short walk away. The bridge is a bascule bridge. It is controlled by pumping water in and out of a tank that balances with the weight of the bridge.
