Brunner was born January 24, 1835, theson of Samuel Brunner (January 11, 1S06, to June 13,1869), who was son of Peter and Eva, nee Mathlas,Brunner. His mother, Maria Riegner, born 1811, was a daughterof Conrad and Catharine, nee Schneider, Riegner. After his preliminary^ education he took up the studyof medicine, graduated from the Jefferson Medical Col-lege, began to practice in March, 1873, and became aprominent physician of Eschbach, Berks Co., Pa., and itsvicinity. He was also prominent in politics and served as a StateSenator from his county, 1885-1888. He lost his life in the terrible holocaust at RhoadsHall, Boyertown, Pa., on the evening of Monday, Janu-ary 13, 1908, where one hundred and seventy men,women and children perished. Dr. Brunner was elected^to membership in the Pennsyl-vania-German Societ} on January 9, 1895. H. M. M. R.
