Greenhouses of the vegetable show garden at the Keukenhof gardens
In the vegetable garden exhibition you can see how flower bulbs can attractively complement a vegetable garden in early spring. A fresh bunch of tulips in a vase, weekly, grown in your own garden. Keukenhof is the international and independent showcase for the Dutch floricultural sector, with a special emphasis on flower bulbs over the space of 8 weeks. The focus in the park is on the 7 million spring-flowering bulbs. People come from all over the world to visit and admire the flowers. Keukenhof, meaning “kitchen garden”, goes back to the 15th century when Countess Jacqueline of Bavaria gathered fruit and vegetables from the woods and dunes. In 1949 a group of bulb workers and exporters decided to create an exhibition and since then it has grown into a world famous attraction.
