Fine Antique Japanese Kutani Porcelain Teapot and Cups by Kachoken. Meiji Period


Finely hand-painted teapot and pair of cups depicting coastal scenes with men and women collecting seafood and their children playing on the rocky outcrops nearby. All marked with nine-character iron red mark 大日本九谷華暢軒製 (Great Japan Kutani, Made by Kachoken). Kachoken mark often appears on works by Haruna Shigeharu (1847-1914) and decoration on these pieces is very similar to his style of painting. Teapot measures 14 cm tall. Cups measure 6 cm tall. Date of production: Meiji period (1868 – 1912)
