Longitudinal-Seat Car Cross-Seat Car VIENNA DOUBLE-DECK CARS—PLAN OF UPPER AND LOWER DECKS OF LONGITUDINAL AND CROSS-SEAT CARS car embodies an entirely new seating arrangement,which has also been applied in the auto buses in were described in the Electric Railway Jour-nal of Jan. 2, 1915. The longitudinal passageway in the lower deck of thecross-seat car lies entirely one one side, while the longi-tudinal passage in the end of the upper deck lies alongthe opposite side. On the upper deck, above the lowerside passage, is arranged a curved bench, shown in oneof the accompanying illustrations the floor underneathwhich is cut away in order to utilize the space for thestairway. Between this bench and the staircase isplaced a cross-seat for two persons, under which the flooris likewise cut away.
