Yemen: Funerary stele. Alabaster 1st-3rd centuries CE. Upper band: banquet scene with three people; lower band: horse rider with camel. Sabaean inscription: 'Image and funerary monument of `Iglum, son of Sa`adīllāt of Qaryot. May Eastern `Athtar smite whoever would destroy it'. South Arabia as a general term refers to several regions as currently recognised, in chief the Republic of Yemen; yet it has historically also included Najran, Jizan and 'Asir which are presently in Saudi Arabia, and Dhofar presently in Oman.
