Pale young leaves of an English Oak in country roadside hedge in spring sunshine. Somewhat unusual massed leaf growth - see NOTES for explanation.

This massed patch of young oak trees occurs when a young oak tree specimen growing in a hedgerow is subjected to repeated annual flailing (agricultural hedge cutting). Since the sapling is denied growth upwards they tend to form bush-like status. That's what we have here, and a mass of young oak leaves as a result.
