See same volume, page 294, where,under date July 9, 1782, James Moore and otherssigned a writing, showing they had settled at BelleFontaine, and asking leave to establish some sort ofgovernment. The permission was granted, and onAugust 5, 1782, election was had and a magistrateelected. The certificate was signed J^^^^s Moore,Captain.
