If other mothers have been troubled as Ihave been with the inevitable holes made inthe tops of stockings by every variety of stock-ing-supporter, they may be glad to learn ofmy way out of the difficulty. To one end ofa strip of elastic four inches long I sew a doubledpiece of tape long and wide enough for a stoutbutton-hole. This buttons on the waist. Tothe other end I sew two narrower strips of tape,four or five inches long, and these I tie to cor-responding tapes on the stocking. Each stock-ing is finished around the top on the inside bya piece of tape, from the opposite sides of whichcome the strings which tie over the knee.
