Stonehenge prehistoric stone circle in Wilthsire England


Images of Stonehenge prehistoric stone circle built in 3 phases over an estimated period of 1500 years, completed around 3500BC in Wiltshire England. Constructed of Bluestone, Sarsen, Welsh Sandstone transported over wide areas in southern England and Wales. It is also thought that 10's of thousands of people all over England, Scotland and Wales gathered in Wiltshire to help with the construction. Some estimates think it would have taken 500 men to lift and place some of the stones with more helping with rollers and planks. There is speculation around the actual use of Stonehenge Circle. However many of the stones are aligned with key dates (sunrise on solstice) and lay lines and other stone circles.
