Roseate Spoonbill in its mating colors wades in the clear waters of Florida's beautiful wetlands.

A beautiful Roseate Spoonbill searches for food in the wetlands of Florida. Of the six species of spoonbills worldwide, the Roseate spoonbill is the only one with pink plumage and is the only spoonbill species found in the Americas. Its formal name is Platalea ajaja. It is always interesting to observe this species swishing its spoon shaped bill side to side as it fishes for dinner. The pinks and salmon colored under feathers are beautiful to see.
