Sources date this pharmacy since the 16th century. As per tradition, the pharmacy took on a fictional name, for which it was chosen the one "to the Madonna" in reference to the wooden effigy exposed outside, depicting precisely a Madonna with child, which is beautiful still today above the entrance.
