Dutch high-capacity pumps in operation at Dunball Wharf near Bridgwater on Monday March 10, 2014. Eight diesel powered Van Heck pumps have been installed by the Environment Agency as a temporary measure to remove floodwater from the Somerset Levels. Each pump removes water at a rate of 100 tons per hour and operates upto 10 hours a day between tides to transfer water from King's Sedgemoor Drain into the River Parrett where it is carried out to sea by the tide.
