ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (Sept. 30, 2015) Marine 1st Sgt. Garrett Kirkby leads a patrol alongside soldiers with the French 5th Overseas Combined Arms Regiment (RIAOM) during a desert survival course. Kirkby is the company first sergeant of Delta Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Detachment, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
