Close-up of the extraordinary walls at Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia. The orange tiling and glazing are based on a pinwheel design, connected with fractals, in which the tiles could be placed in an infinite variety of designs. Federation Square was designed by Don Bates and Peter Davidson of Lab Architecture Studio. Opened 2002.
