A survivor who thinks soldiers forgot to evacuate him from Woebbelin breaks into tears in the compound. The SS opened Wöbbelin in February 1945 to house concentration camp prisoners whom the SS had evacuated from other camps to prevent their liberation by the Allies. The camp was freed on May 2, 1945. The photo is dated 4th May 1945, two days after liberation. This heartbroken man was, of course, not forgoten.
