Hot Raku pottery being removed from a kiln
Pots being removed from a gas kiln ready to be placed in a reduction chamber. (A container where the extremely hot pot is surrounded by combustible material such as wood chippings which causes a reaction with the glazes on the surface of the pot.) This leads to the characteristic irridescent surface. The raku tradition originated in kiln was fired during a 'Raku' day at the Stoke Heath Community Arts Centre in Worcestershire in October 2005.
