The Black-throatedGreen Warblers are especially sunny days they delight to perch inthe tops of spruce trees among thethickly clustered cones, and sing withobvious enjoyment a quaint song offive notes which is phrased not unlikepart of the White-throated Sparrowssong: Sweet, siveet, Canada. The firsttwo notes are in a drawling, reedy tone;the last three clear and very rapid. I was walking today (June 19) alongthe shingle beach in the seaward side ofone of the small islands off Seal strip of grass land ended in a sandbankabove me, and fifty yards inland was athick spruce thicket.
