A little past the fortressa road runs to join the road from Brixen toBrunecken and the Pusterthal, near thevillage of Unter-Vintl. The Brenner roadpasses to the left of the fortress, passes thehamlet of Oberau, and in 9i miles fromBrixen reaches Mittewald, where there is a comfortableinn, which afibrds a good sleeping placefor tiavellers who might think the journeyfrom Innsbruck to Brixen too long forone days work. Above the door of thePost house several fragments of cannonballs have been built into the wall. *Zur IM >^!^. ,^MSBRUCK PASS OF THEBRENNER N ^ T H
