So systematically was thework done that in five weeks from theday on which theorder for constructionwas issued, the hall was ready for oc-cupancy, and the following menu wasserved to the employees: — Menu Vegetable Soup with Rice. A Cooking Class at National Cash Register The noon recess of one hour andtwenty minutes is a time of specialinterest to the visitor. Groups of youngwomen are gathered about the pianoor perhaps engaged in dancing; while inparts of the spacious dining-room orrest-rooms may be seen others chattingover their embroidery or enjoying astroll. One more diligent than the othersmay perhaps be found at the sewing-machine provided for their use; whilethe library, where files of newspapers,magazines, and books are always avail-able, attracts many. Cooking ClassesClasses in cooking, marketing, andhousehold economics are a feature ofthe welfare work during the winter,two hundred and ninety young womenbeing enrolled in two classes. A pro-ficient teacher of domestic science is en-gaged to demonstrate the best methodsof preparing nourishing and inexpen-sive meals. At the close of each coursemembers of the class contribute
