His Excellency The Slovak Ambassador to the UK Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák planting the QEII Platinum Jubilee Memorial Tree


On Sunday, March 19, 2023 Marek Sobola PhD, Secretary-General & Founder of Servare et Manere, responsible for the International Tree of Peace Project and Gerry Manolas Chair of the Memorial Association of Free Czechosloval Veterans held a tree planting ceremony at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, England. The late Queen Elizabeth asked us all to mark her Platinum Jubilee by planting trees as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative. The chosen tree is a Prunus Padus – A Bird Cherry Tree. It was planted by His Excellency The Slovak Ambassador to the UK Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák and Her Excellency The Czech Ambassador to the UK Mrs. Marie Chatardová together with Mr Marek Sobola and Mrs Gerry Manolas. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) agreed the tree be planted in the Military Cemetery at Brookwood. After the tre planting The Czech Ambassador Mrs. Marie Chatardová placed a wreath at the National Czechoslovak Memorial and The Slovak Ambassador Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák placed a wreath on the grave of Marina Paulinyova, Vice Chair of the Czechoslovak Red Cross, who is buried in Brookwood civilian cemetery.
