Arthur's Stone: the entrance passageway

Arthur's Stone in Dorstone, Herefordshire, This is a Neolithic burial chamber that would once have been covered by a mound of earth. The stones in the foreground formed a part of an entrance tunnel to the chamber beneath the main stone. The giant capstone, thought to weigh some 25 tonnes, has now broken in two halves. There is a school of thought that suggests that this was the inspiration for the scene involving the death of Aslan the lion in CS Lewis's book 'THe Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.'
