2nd Lt. George H. Lyon, of the 69th Infantry Regiment, also known as "Col. Bill Hayward's Old Fifteenth," arrives home on the SS Stockholm at Pier 55, North River in New York City, on March 10, 1919. The regiment has a strong presence of African American soldiers and was decorated with the Croix de Guerre. Col. William Hayward is the commanding officer. This photograph has been passed by military censors.
