Conjunctival hyperaemia in a woman's eye
Conjunctival hyperaemia in the eye of a 72 year old female patient. Hyperaemia refers to increased blood flow in certain bodily organs. Conjunctival hyperaemia occurs during eye inflammation (conjunctivitis). It causes the capillaries to expand and the whites of the eyes to become reddened. This condition can be triggered by allergy, damage to the cornea or infections. This case was trigged by eye drops prescribed for those with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
