The Beauty of ancient Konark Sun Temple in flood lights at night (a UNESCO world heritage site) near Bhubaneswar, Orissa India. The Sun temple of Konark was built in the 13th century and lies in the city of Konark in Orissa. The sun temple is built in the form of a giant chariot of Sun god with highly ornate wheels and columns carved with stone. It follows the Kalinga architectural style and is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was built by Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty with ancient period records stating the existence of an earlier temple on this site. The temple complex had a main sanctum sanctorum which was 70 m high, but it fell apart in the 19th century. The temple is also site for Konark dance festival which is held every year.
