Wharenui carved meeting house, Hikurangi Wharerata, Koriniti Marae, Whanganui River, New Zealand


Koriniti marae (also known as Otukopiri) is located roughly 40 km north of Whanganui, on the banks of the Whanganui River. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Pāmoana of the iwi Te Ātihaunui a Pāpārangi. The wharenui are named Hikurangi Wharerata, Poutama and Te Waiherehere, and the wharekai is Pamoana. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Aotea, the maunga Ruapehu and the awa Whanganui.
