Natural gas fueling station, San Jose International Airport, California, USA. Sept 2007

Compared to traditional gasoline powered vehicles, natural gas vehicles have much lower emissions and hence are much more environmentally friendly. Over the recent years they have been gaining more popularity and the necessary network of fueling stations is being built, particularly in densely populated areas like San Francisco Bay Area. A state of the art compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station was opened in 2003 at San Jose International Airport. It is owned by the airport and was built primarily for fueling airport shuttle buses, taxis and service vehicles. General public is also encouraged to use the facility. Shown here is a sign for the emergency shutdown switch located on premises. Photo Sept 2007.
