Dr. Heitzmann, being called upon for his report of the micro-scopical appearance of the growth, said that he had received a smallpiece of the tumor, about one-fourth of an inch in diameter, whichhe had carefully examined. A transverse section had one strikingpeculiarity to the naked eye; that is, the linear portion of thegrowth, close above the subcutaneous tissue, contained dark brownpigment, while those parts above were spotted. Microscopically,the epidermal layer was considerably thinned, consisting only ofthree or four rows of cuboidal cells, beside
