Brabin's Almshouse plaque, Chipping, Lancashire. 'Brabin's Almshouses. Three cottages opened in 1684. Endowed by the will of John Brabin, cloth merchant, who died in 1683 -"...for the dwelling and Lodgeing of so many poore and Impotent people of the Towneshipp of Chippin as the allowance hereafter mentioned shall extend to mantayne.'
