PACIFIC OCEAN (March 26, 2017) Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Rachel Maurer, from Everett Wash., fires a shotline from the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) to the Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS Carl Brashear (T-AO 7) as the ships get set to conduct a replenishment-at-sea during composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group's assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
