A portion of a canal several kilometers long that Afghan workers of the Sarkani District in Afghanistan's Kunar Province cleaned-out as part of a cash-for-work project completed over a two-week period in November. The project will enable the irrigation of 2,000 jeerubs (about a thousand acres) of farmland in the Sarkani District, at a cost of just over 155,000 afghanis (approximately $3,100). Members of the Iowa National Guard's 734th Agribusiness Development Team performed a quality assurance/quality control inspection on the canal clean-out project on Nov. 22, 2010.
