The Long Reach of the Coast Guard Lengthens. This B-24 airplane, this spring (1946), is taking its place with the cutters Tampa, Modoc and Mojave in the tough assignment of the International Ice Patrol. Equipped with radar and radio and every other modern means of contact and communications, these planes will work with the ships in spotting and charting the dangerous icebergs that every spring endanger ships plying the North Atlantic. These planes will be based at Argentia.
