Adult pikas are about inches (19 cm) long, including body and head. One very unusual thing about pikas is that the soles of their feet are covered with tiny hairs, which are thought to increase their traction on rocks. Pika are shy pika and usually will sit motionless as you hike buy. The harvest and dry green vegetation, then store it in their underground warehouses. Pika are common prey for hawks, owls, eagles, harriers, weasels, wolverines and lynx.
